I started creating analog collages during the COVID global pandemic, finding relief in the creation of absurdity and catharsis in dreaming up places I would like to be. My work quickly expanded to be influenced by disillusionment with reason in a country and world filled with ever-increasing injustice, as well as my personal journey as a woman navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and mental illness. Inspired by the natural world and how humans fit into it, I am often thinking about consciousness, worlds unseen, creation, and the power of love, laughter, and dreams.

Using printed materials primarily from the 1950s-1980s, I use a precision knife, tiny scissors, and glue to create my collages. In an increasingly digital world, I find the physical act of collaging cathartic and grounding. Existing in a mind that is constantly over-processing, I find that moving my feelings through images gives me space to breathe and exist. Collage is freeing in that it’s more about creativity than any technical skill. It allows room to explore without correction or confines; to take a journey without a predetermined destination. It’s a consistent practice in trusting my intuition and trusting the process. Much of my work is subconscious in this way, while remaining intentional in the desire to convey to you, the viewer, the feeling in which I’m feeling; to connect us as humans.
